Information we collect
Account and verification data may include name, email, mobile number, role, login activity and verification status. Listing and stay data may include property details, photos, address, availability, house rules and enquiry content. Technical data may include IP-derived security signals, device/browser information, timestamps, cookies and error logs. Payment providers may return transaction references and status; Ownbyo should not receive or store your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN or banking password.
Why we use it
We use data to create accounts, verify email, protect private contact details, operate listings and requests, personalise search, moderate content, prevent fraud, provide support, comply with law, keep audit records and improve reliability. We do not sell personal data. Marketing communication, if introduced, will include lawful choice and opt-out controls.
Sharing and processors
Data is shared only as necessary with the other party after required verification and user action; with hosting, email, analytics, identity or payment providers working under appropriate terms; with professional advisers; or with authorities when lawfully required. Public listings must not expose private owner phone numbers or email addresses. Cross-border processing, if used, will be handled subject to applicable Indian requirements.
Retention and security
We keep data only for the purpose, dispute, fraud-prevention, accounting and legal periods that apply, then delete or anonymise it where feasible. Security controls include restricted access, password hashing, protected sessions, CSRF controls, rate limits, audit records and encrypted transport. No system can promise absolute security; report suspected misuse immediately.
Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask for access to a summary of your personal data, correction, completion, deletion, consent withdrawal or grievance resolution. Some records may be retained where required for fraud prevention, legal claims or statutory duties. You may close an account by raising a ticket. Browser settings can control non-essential storage, although essential session cookies are required to sign in securely.
Children and third-party links
Ownbyo is not intended for children to independently enter property transactions. We do not knowingly create accounts for a child without lawful guardian involvement. External sites and payment applications have their own terms and privacy practices.

The single privacy and support contact is hello@ownbyo.com. Include “Privacy request” in the subject or choose Account & verification on the contact form. We will verify the requester before disclosing or changing account data.
